Pre-Alpha Dev Branch - Release Notes [Jan 10]

The following only represents significant and not all changes in this test. As a reminder, during pre-alpha both small and large changes will occur without warning to facilitate rapid development and experimentation.

Features

  • Torches and Standing Torch will now cast shadows
  • Torches can now be placed onto and removed from Handcarts (useful for Underworld)
  • When a Homestead is built, it now comes prestocked with Homestead Rations, which is a starter food item to help new players establish themselves

Changes

  • Balance changes
  • Torch damage reduced by ~70%
  • Throwing a Torch now puts the player into combat mode
  • Catapult damage increased by 50%
  • Wells refill with water faster than before
  • Advanced Workbench cost updated
  • Added 5x Animal Fat
  • Increase bone cost from 1x to 3x
  • Cargo Ships are no longer buildable (temporary change for this test)
  • Tier 1 Towns claim territory
  • Animal visibility at night has been reduced
  • Unstuck cooldown reduced from 5 to 3 minutes
  • When player is below 25% Hunger, hunger drains at 20% instead of 10% normal rate
  • Keeps no longer fast decay if they don't have pledges
  • Territory colour is more pronounced
  • Players now get Reinforcement status when claiming a Town Bed locally
  • Player's own Homestead icon flashes now on the deployment screen
  • Furnace model has been updated to be much smaller, making it easier to build inside Homestead interiors
  • Berries and Flint are now more visible in the environment (especially through seasonal changes)
  • When facing a structure, it will be prioritized for interaction
  • Gates can now be opened by friendlies even if it is Scorched
  • Forge fuel inputs and outputs now stack more items

Bug fixes

  • Collisions are broken in the Underworld, resulting in players falling through the floor
  • Tutorial step for upgrading Homestead is broken
  • Various item and structure descriptions fixed
  • Various fixes to HUD messages shown when building structures
  • Various client crashes
  • Captured Keeps provide intel for previous owning faction
  • Sawmill can be built through walls
  • Tier 3 Homestead Keystone can't be built when standing on top of it
  • Homestead Wall Power Connector sometimes blocks Rope Connectors from being built
  • Map icons aren't properly updated after relogging
  • Players are stuck in the falling animation when seated on a vehicle
  • Pickaxe players two sounds when used
  • Some structures can't be built in the Wilderness even though requirements are satisfied
  • Iron Armour loses durability faster than Leather Armour
  • Trees and Traps can't be placed in the Wilderness without a Homestead pledge
  • Manure pickup does not give resources
  • Bellows collision is overly large/incorrect
  • Can't dismantle Homestead Keystone even though area is empty
  • Icons were missing for Canals on dismantle screen
  • Hen Houses can be built on Homestead interiors
  • Farm areas can be built on Homestead interiors

Pre-Alpha Test - Release Notes Addendum [Jan 15]

These notes represent changes since the dev branch notes above.

Changes

  • Fort Gates are no longer buildable
  • Battering Ram has been balanced so it no longer takes too many hits to open a Reinforced Gate
  • When deploying a Camp, the build menu is now shown first so build requirements can be previewed
  • Message is now shown on the HUD when the win condition is achieved
  • All tiers of Town Fort structures can now be Reinforced
  • Other UI tweaks

Bug Fixes

  • Lighting is blown out in certain parts of the Underworld and when using a Furnace
  • Structures can't be dismantled if they are within a Homestead that is engulfed by a Town

Changes

  • Greatly increased amount of Flint, Branches, and Berries available in the world

Bug Fixes

  • Players are unable to build in their Homestead areas
  • When eating a type of food that is on cooldown, the player isn't shown any feedback as they are supposed to be
