Cooking is simple. First, build a cooking structure from the build menu. Then, press to interact with it and open its menu. Place ingredients in the available slots and add fuel. If the ingredients match a recipe, a button icon in the station's UI will display the output food. Click this button to start cooking the food.
Cooking Stations
There are three primary cooking stations, each used for different recipes.
The Firepit is the simplest cooking structure, used for basic recipes. It can be built anywhere without requiring a settlement. Food burns after 10 minutes.
The Hearth is used for boiled or stewed foods, with its most popular dish being Boiled Cabbage. Food burns after 12 minutes and 30 seconds. It only accepts Charcoal as fuel.
Once cooking is complete, the station emits black smoke, and the cooked food is placed in the output slot at the highest quality level (). If left in the station too long, the food's quality decreases until it burns, turning into Wood Ash within 10–15 minutes, depending on the station.
Note: You can reset the cooking timer by adding an item with higher priority to the station. For example, adding berries to a Firepit cooking meat will reset the timer, wasting the previous cooking progress.
