Underworld
The Underworld is the name given to the subterranean layer of Calligo.
Access
The Underworld exists as a number of disconnected caverns that can be accessed via a surface Cave entrance. Hand Carts are the only Vehicles which can be brought down into the Underworld. Once inside each entrance is connected to a randomly selected amount of cave rooms, made up of dead ends, corners and cross sections linking between.
Resources
The Underworld is the primary location for mining resources such as Stone, Iron and Coal. These can be found in giant cubes made up from chunks as well as a number of smaller piles that can be found on the path ways between the cave rooms.
Mining Platforms and Mining Stairs can be used to gain access to the tops of the deposits in order to mine down through the cube.
Dangers
The underworld is a dangerous area full of hostile animals. The primary threats include the following:
- Darkness - The underworld is completely pitch black, running out of Torches or Fibre for any Standing Torches will leave you to starve in the dark.
- Bats - Airborn threat, not to be underestimated doing almost the same damage as a Wolf.
- Wolf (Elite) - A more dangrous version of the common Wolf that can be found on the surface, having both a higher HP and damage.
Its recommended to go into the underwold in groups when looking for resources and fighting animals.
Cave-ins
The Underworld is prone to periodic cave-ins that will destroy everything within the collapsing cave sections. These cave-ins can occur at random intervals, anywhere between 8 to 36 hours.
Four hours before a collapse, warning signs of falling rocks will begin to telegraph the impending danger. These signals will appear every 1 to 10 minutes. These signs give players time to evacuate and extract resources before that section of underworld is destroyed.
After this another cave entrance should be used to enter the underworld at a different location.
Structures
The underworld has restrictions on which structures can be built inside it. Only allowing the following:
