This guide is currently based off player testing, and as such is a work in progress until all mechanics are known.
This guide teaches you how to farm in Anvil Empires. Farming is the act of growing crops for Food or Supplies.
Setting up your fields
In order to setup your Tilled Field, you will first need to meet the following requirements:
- Tier 2 Homestead.
- Access to a Workbench.
- Source of water, either Shallow Well or a Canal Storage.
- Seeds to plant, either Wheat Seed or Cabbage Seed.
Once you have everything you need, craft an Iron Hoe at the Workbench. The Iron Hoe is the tool you'll use to make your Tilled Fields. Open the build menu with B and go to the Farming tab to find the Tilled Field. Just click to place the blueprints. After placing your field blueprints, use the Iron Hoe to build them.
Growing Crops
With your Tilled Fields ready, it's time to plant. You have two choices, Cabbage Plant or Wheat Plant.
Equip your choice of seeds in your hand and, standing on the Tilled Field, press LMB to plant a seed. Each field can hold a grid of 4x5 plants, a total of 20 plants per Tilled Field.
After your seeds are planted, you will need to water them. You'll need a Water Bucket. Pickup your Water Bucket from your water source, either a Well or a aqueduct attached Canal Storage. Walk onto your field and click with LMB to use the bucket. Watering your plants is required for their growth. Without water your plants will stop growing. Each Tilled Field can be watered 3 times, with each water lasting for 5 minutes, a total of 15 mins for a fully watered field.
Each plant grows in 4 stages, taking about 30 minutes between each one. That means it takes roughly 1 hour and 30 minutes for your crops to be ready to harvest.
Fertilizer
Fertilizer is a resource that can speed up your crops' growth by one-third. This means it takes just 1 hour to grow your crops instead of 1 hour and 30 minutes. Fertilizer looks like white ash when spread on fields. Once applied, it lasts 33 minutes, whether your field is empty or has crops growing. Its applied in the same manner as water.
Harvest Crops
Harvesting your plants requires an Iron Scythe. Stand near the plants while holding the Iron Scythe and click with LMB to harvest. You'll get the crops when you harvest, and there's a chance you'll also get some seeds.
