Donkeys are good work animals and provide a way for players to cross short distances

Overview

Donkeys are an equestrian Animal used for transportation of supplies and powering industrial structures such as the Power Mill.

Taming and Upkeep

Initially found in the world as Foals, donkeys can be tamed and grown into fully-grown adults by putting Equine Feed into a Food Trough; donkeys can follow players by holding Equine Feed in your hands. In addition, donkeys can be fed and healed by pressing the LMB on their mouth while holding Equine Feed. Once a settlement has at least two donkeys they can be bred at the Stable as another method for obtaining new donkeys.

Hunger decay rate is 1.5% per minute. Hunger decay rate is not impacted by different activities.

Attachments

Unlike the Horse the donkey can be ridden without use of a Basic Saddle, but can be attached to the Power Mill with the use of a Mill Harness for generating mechanical power. The donkey can also be outfitted with a Pack Saddle to gain 3 inventory slots. Multiple donkeys can be lead this way via an Animal Rope to form a caravan line of cargo donkeys.
