Pre-Alpha Test Jan 24 - Key Changes

The following only represents significant and not all changes in the build this afternoon. As a reminder, during pre-alpha both small and large changes will occur without warning to facilitate rapid development and experimentation.

Changes

  • New Structure: Windmill
    • Provides power to Workshop structures
      • Power varies with Wind and Wind direction
      • Can be rotated to match Wind direction
  • Settlements now require a minimum number of nearby players to establish (to place down the Gathering Pit Build Site)
  • Buildable area around Settlements start small but increase with population
  • Wild Spawn points in a large radius around established Settlements are removed (except for the one closest to the Settlement)
  • Wild Spawn points that are away from Settlements become Unsettled, meaning players are warned when they attempt to deploy to them
  • Public structures now require voting for dismantlement
    • Thanes & Lords count for more votes
  • More legacy Settlement production structures removed (with their items moved to Workbench and Advanced Workbenches)
  • Public (vs Homestead) structures are distinguished in the build menu with an icon
  • Animal Mills and Water Wheels no longer required Workshop Areas to build on
  • Players now have 2 Belt slots dedicated to holding weapons, freeing up the 9 Bag slots for other items
  • Repair materials yield more items when produced but repairs cost more

Bug Fixes

  • Deploying as reinforcements to another region fully restores hunger, health, and stamina
  • Players can drown in some locations on land
  • Marketplace prop meshes are floating
  • Drying Racks fire VFX are floating
  • Road textures appear on top of some Fort Gate structure meshes
  • Logging in to voice chat fails after region travel (some, but potentially not all cases are fixed)
  • Beacon Tower placement fails silently when attempting to build distal (but still in range) of enemy beacon towers
  • Beacon Tower plays the sawbuck SFX when on fire
  • Fort Hoardings can be built on top of each other
  • Well build rules are lenient on slopes resulting in an open space under the asset
  • A player that mounts a visible vehicle from just beyond the night-shround will not be visible when they enter visible range
  • Barrels can be loaded onto a Hand Cart but provide no visual meshes
  • Player name is not updated at Town Centers after changing Steam name

  • Settlements now require 10 people nearby to place.
  • Settlement build area now scales with citizen population.
  • Hand Carts and Caravan can now sprint.
  • Stone Mallet damage lowered from 25 to 22. Encumberance changed from 1% to 19%.
  • Power Mill and Water Wheel can not be build outside workshop areas.
  • Players now have two belt slots for holding weapons.
  • Wooden Fort (Arch) can now be built over roads.
  • House Bed and House Bunk Beds inventory slots increased from 2 to 4.
